39 Leaders from New 38th District Endorse Sánchez for Congress
Cerritos, CA— Recognizing her leadership and effectiveness in serving her constituents and communities, 39 elected leaders from California’s new 38th Congressional District are today announcing their endorsement of Congresswoman Linda Sánchez. Today’s endorsements include eight (8) city mayors and all leaders from the cities of Norwalk, South El Monte, Santa Fe Springs, Lakewood and Artesia. Linda Sánchez Wins 84% of Delegate Vote at California Pre-Endorsement Conference
Whittier, CA— In a landslide vote, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez took home the endorsement recommendation of the California Democratic Party (CDP) at its ‘Pre-Endorsement’ conference at the Whittier Library on Saturday. By a vote of 46 to 9, delegates for California’s new 38th Congressional District voted to recommend Congresswoman Linda Sánchez for the CDP’s formal endorsement at the party convention in February.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement recommendation from the people who are the heart and soul of our local Democratic party,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez. “Their decisive vote tells me that they want bold leadership for the new 38th District, and I pledge that I will fight tirelessly for our communities in Washington. I am looking forward to meeting and talking with more people from the new 38th District so that we can work together and solve the problems we face each day. ”
Congresswoman Linda Sánchez Announces She Will Seek Election in California’s 38th Congressional District
Lakewood, CA—Today, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez announced that she intends to seek election in California’s newly designated 38th Congressional District. The new 38th Congressional District drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission is compromised of nearly half of California’s current 39th Congressional District, which Congresswoman Sánchez has represented since 2003.
“It has been a privilege serving the constituents of the 39th District, and I hope to have the honor of serving these communities again by representing the 38th District,” said Congresswoman Sánchez. “I have fought hard to improve our community and make Southern California a better place to live and work. I hope that I have earned the voters’ trust to return to Washington as their voice and work just as hard to create jobs and turn this economy around.”
Since being sworn into office in 2003, Congresswoman Sánchez has been recognized by her colleagues and the news media as a champion for working families. She has a consistent track record in securing federal funding for California’s 39th district, including for major infrastructure and road improvements. These include multi-million dollar projects to repair and resurface Whittier Boulevard in Whittier, Imperial Highway in La Mirada, and Paramount Boulevard in Lakewood. Sánchez has also delivered millions in federal funding for water studies of the LA Watershed Basin, so that Southern California is better prepared to prevent bitter droughts.
